Motorcyclist killed after crashing into pole in central Phoenix

PHOENIX — A motorcycle accident in central Phoenix resulted in the death of a man late Monday night. The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. near 23rd and Orangewood avenues, according to Phoenix Police Department.

Authorities identified the victim as 36-year-old Marvin Roy Logons III. Upon arrival, officers found Logons in critical condition; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators reported that Logons lost control of the motorcycle, veered onto the sidewalk, and collided with a wooden utility pole. The impact caused him to be thrown from the bike.

While the investigation is ongoing, authorities have not confirmed whether speed or impairment were contributing factors in the crash.
