Motorcyclist killed and 16-year-old injured in Marion County crash, OSHP reports.

Motorcycle Crash in Marion County Claims One Life, Injures Teen Driver

MARION COUNTY, Ohio — A motorcycle crash on state Route 4 in Pleasant Township resulted in one fatality and left a 16-year-old boy injured on Monday evening.

The incident occurred just before 6:10 p.m. at the intersection of state Route 4 and White Oaks Road. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), the teenager was driving a 2011 Kia Forte north on state Route 4 when he failed to yield to a 2017 Indian Chieftain Dark Horse motorcycle while attempting to turn left.

The motorcyclist, identified as 54-year-old Shawn Woolum, collided with the Kia. Woolum was transported to Marion General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The 16-year-old was also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

OSHP confirmed that Woolum was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing, according to authorities.
