STOREY COUNTY, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — A motorcycle crash on C Street in Virginia City resulted in one fatality on July 12 at approximately 8:50 p.m.
A Storey County Sheriff’s Office deputy initiated a traffic stop when the motorcycle nearly collided with the patrol vehicle. The motorcycle, a black model, accelerated rapidly, entering the southbound lanes of C Street.
The deputy later located the motorcycle on its side near north D Street after it struck a guardrail, causing the rider to be ejected down an embankment.
Life-saving measures were performed by the deputy until paramedics arrived, but the rider was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have indicated that speed and alcohol may be contributing factors.
The Nevada State Police are currently conducting the crash investigation. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for the coroner’s inquiry. Witnesses are urged to contact 775-847-0959 and reference case 26-1052 for further information.
