Motorcyclist killed in Cass County crash involving semi.

SHINGOBEE TOWNSHIP, Minn. – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash involving a semi-truck Thursday afternoon on Highway 371.

The collision occurred just before 4 p.m. southbound near milepost 86, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The motorcyclist, 30, from Vadnais Heights, struck a cable barrier after the semi-truck driver made a sudden maneuver onto the right shoulder, which ultimately led to the motorcyclist being run over by the semi.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The 33-year-old semi-truck driver from Pennsylvania was unharmed.

Authorities indicated that the cause of the semi-truck driver’s maneuver is under investigation. However, alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor.

Emergency response teams, including law enforcement and medical personnel, were on the scene to assist. The incident resulted in lane closures as the investigation and roadway clearance took place.
