Belle Plaine, MN – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a car on Scott County Rd. 7 near Belle Plaine on Tuesday night.
Authorities reported the crash occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m. at the intersection of Scott County Rd. 7 and 235th St., about four miles east of Belle Plaine. The motorcycle, operated by a 62-year-old man from Epping, North Dakota, crossed into the northbound lane and collided with an oncoming vehicle.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene, and while a Mayo Clinic helicopter was dispatched, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead despite life-saving measures. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet, and authorities noted potential impairment at the time of the incident.
The car, driven by a 20-year-old from Cologne, sustained minor injuries, with treatment provided at the scene. Their identity has not been released.
Scott County Sheriff Luke Hennen expressed condolences to the victim’s family. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, with no further details available at this time.
