A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Interstate 80 in Sweetwater County late Saturday night after hitting a large animal.
Daniel Godfrey, 37, of Oklahoma, was riding a Harley Davidson eastbound at approximately 10:30 p.m. when he struck the animal near milepost 194, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Troopers believe the animal was either an elk or a moose.
Godfrey lost control of the motorcycle and veered off the roadway before being ejected. He died at the scene. Authorities confirmed that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Weather conditions were clear, with a dry road surface reported at the time of the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
