A motorcyclist was killed early Wednesday morning in a collision with an SUV on Illinois Route 9 near Pekin.
According to Illinois State Police, the crash occurred at 5:08 a.m. at the intersection of Illinois Route 9 and 5th Street. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, confirmed by Tazewell County Coroner Charlie Hanley.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, with the deceased’s identity set to be released on Thursday, Hanley said.
Authorities closed lanes on Illinois Route 9 for the investigation, with no further details on the crash provided by state police.
