PARIS (WGME) — A 33-year-old man died following a motorcycle crash on Route 26 in Paris around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
According to authorities, Carleton Merrill lost control of his motorcycle while attempting to pass another vehicle and subsequently crashed into an embankment. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police indicated that speed appears to be a contributing factor in the incident. No other vehicles were involved, and there were no other reported injuries.
The road was temporarily closed for investigation and cleanup efforts.
