Motorcyclist killed in head-on collision on Highway 395 near Doyle.

DOYLE, Calif. — A motorcyclist was killed in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 395 on Sunday afternoon, May 17, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 2:45 p.m. when the driver of a 2025 Subaru, traveling southbound, attempted to pass a slower-moving truck. The Subaru entered the northbound lane and struck the motorcycle head-on.

The motorcyclist was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Subaru and a passenger were rescued from the vehicle, which caught fire after the collision, and were transported to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nevada.

U.S. Highway 395 was closed to allow for emergency response and scene cleanup, with traffic diverted onto Constantia Road. One-way traffic control was established at approximately 8:00 p.m. while fire crews completed suppression efforts.

The incident remains under investigation.
