Motorcyclist Killed in Highway 50 Crash in El Dorado County
A motorcyclist died in a collision on Highway 50 near Slippery Ford Road in El Dorado County, Monday at 11:19 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials.
The incident involved a 2009 BMW F650GS motorcycle and a Lincoln Navigator. Authorities reported the motorcycle, driven by an 85-year-old man from Lincoln, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the Lincoln. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving measures. The 38-year-old female driver of the Lincoln from San Lorenzo was uninjured.
CHP’s initial investigation indicated no signs of alcohol or drugs contributing to the crash. Traffic was reduced to one-way control post-incident, but Highway 50 was fully reopened by approximately 1 p.m.
The investigation remains ongoing.
