LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) – A motorcycle crash on Fort Avenue late Friday night resulted in the death of a 34-year-old Campbell County man.
Authorities identified the victim as Michael Gravelle II. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before midnight on April 17, 2026.
According to police, Gravelle was traveling at a high rate of speed when he collided with two other vehicles. The drivers of those vehicles remained at the scene and are cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Emergency responders from the Lynchburg Fire Department and the Lynchburg Police Department attended the scene. No additional injuries were reported among the other drivers.
Authorities closed lanes on Fort Avenue during the investigation and cleanup, which affected traffic flow in the area.
