MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WSMV) – A motorcycle crash at 7:02 p.m. on April 24 resulted in the death of 21-year-old Dax Van Ekelenburg of Murfreesboro.
The incident occurred at the intersection of South Church Street and South Rutherford Boulevard, involving a Ford Taurus and the motorcycle.
According to authorities, the Taurus was traveling southbound in the left turn lane and failed to yield, colliding with Ekelenburg’s motorcycle. The driver of the Taurus was not injured.
Another motorcyclist, who was trailing Ekelenburg, managed to brake in time to avoid the crash, authorities confirmed.
A police officer at the scene initiated CPR before emergency services from Murfreesboro Fire Rescue and Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services transported Ekelenburg to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, with officials looking into whether speed was a contributing factor.
