CURRY COUNTY, Ore. (KOIN) — A 36-year-old motorcyclist died after a three-vehicle crash on Highway 101 on Sunday.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. near milepost 352, according to Oregon State Police.
Investigators said Louis Henry Vowell III was riding a Triumph motorcycle northbound at a high rate of speed when he collided with the rear of a Mazda CX-5 while attempting to overtake multiple vehicles.
Vowell III was thrown from the motorcycle and subsequently struck by a Mercedes Sprinter van, authorities reported.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries were reported in the other two vehicles involved.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
