Motorcyclist Seriously Injured After Fleeing from Highway Patrol.

MAPLETON, N.D. — A 38-year-old man from Hope was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash following a police chase on August 11.

According to the North Dakota State Patrol, the incident began around 9:30 p.m. when a trooper attempted to stop the motorcyclist for speeding. The rider fled at high speed, heading westbound on I-94 from Exit 343 and then northbound on Cass County Road 11.

Authorities reported that, while traveling on 33rd Street Southeast, the motorcyclist lost control and rolled into the south ditch, resulting in serious injuries. He was transported by Sanford AirMed to a hospital in Fargo.

The rider, whose identity has not been released, was not wearing a helmet and has been charged with driving under the influence. Additional charges are pending, and the crash remains under investigation.

Emergency responders included the North Dakota State Patrol, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Casselton Fire Department, Casselton Ambulance, and Sanford AirMed. The motorcycle crash resulted in temporary lane closures while emergency personnel worked at the scene.
