Renton, WA — Southbound I-405 has reopened following a hit-and-run crash involving a motorcycle and a car early Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred near Sunset Boulevard shortly after 5 a.m., leading to the closure of multiple lanes for nearly three hours. Traffic backups extended over two miles during the closure.
One lane of SB I-405 has since reopened, according to KIRO Newsradio Traffic. The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was attended to by emergency medical services on the scene.
According to Washington State Patrol (WSP) Trooper Rick Johnson, the driver of the car fled the scene, prompting an investigation into the incident as a hit-and-run and potential vehicular assault. Authorities are working to obtain a description of the vehicle involved.
