VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries following a crash involving a car on I-264 eastbound near Witchduck Road on Monday night.
Virginia State Police reported the incident occurred around 8:18 p.m. when the motorcyclist attempted to evade a traffic stop for improper registration display.
The motorcyclist, riding a 2009 Suzuki, collided with the rear of a 2023 Nissan Rogue during the attempted escape.
Emergency responders transported the motorcyclist to Virginia Beach General Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
All eastbound lanes were closed for the duration of the incident, leading to significant traffic delays.
The crash remains under investigation, according to authorities.
