NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – A motorcyclist died following a crash on Market Street late Thursday night, August 20, according to the NC Highway Patrol.
Christopher Ryan Williams, 31, was driving south on Market Street around 10:20 p.m. when he made a left turn onto Station Road, colliding with a northbound motorcycle. The force of the crash caused the rider to be ejected, with both motorcycles overturning and blocking the roadway.
The injured motorcyclist was transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center but succumbed to injuries on August 22.
Williams was charged with Failure to Yield on Left Turn, Driving While Impaired, and Felony Death by Vehicle.
During a court appearance on August 24, Williams was ordered held on a $100,000 bond.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the deceased motorcyclist. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
