HAUGEN, Wis. (WKOW) — A motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries in a crash on U.S. 53 southbound on Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred at 3:29 p.m. at Long Lake Avenue in Washburn County. The Wisconsin State Patrol and Washburn County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
A 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound when it struck the left rear corner of another vehicle. The operator lost control and came to a stop in the median.
Authorities reported evidence of possible alcohol impairment during the crash investigation. The 43-year-old male motorcyclist from Sarona was not wearing a seatbelt. He was initially transported to Spooner Health Hospital and later airlifted to a Duluth hospital for further treatment.
The Shell Lake Fire Department and North Memorial Ambulance assisted on-site. The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the incident, and enforcement action is pending.
