Motorcyclist sustains serious injuries in four-vehicle collision near Mapleton.

CASS COUNTY — A 62-year-old motorcyclist from Davenport, North Dakota, suffered serious injuries in a crash on I-94 Wednesday afternoon, June 24, at approximately 4:46 p.m.

The motorcyclist was riding a 2010 Honda eastbound near mile marker 341, roughly 3 miles east of Mapleton, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol. A 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 70-year-old man with a 65-year-old passenger, also from Arthur, was in the same lane behind the motorcycle.

The Silverado attempted to switch to the left lane but was struck by a 2016 Nissan Rogue, driven by a 42-year-old man from Erie. The initial collision caused the Nissan to hit the motorcycle, which then collided with a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado being driven by a 64-year-old man from Mapleton.

The injured motorcyclist was transported to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo. Authorities said there were no additional injuries reported, and all vehicle occupants were wearing seat belts. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Road and weather conditions were dry when the incidents occurred. The North Dakota State Patrol is investigating, with assistance from the Highway Patrol, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Rural West Fargo Fire, and Sanford Ambulance. No charges have been filed at this time.
