MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) — A motorcycle crash on South Church Street Thursday evening resulted in the death of 21-year-old Dax Van Ekelenburg of Murfreesboro, according to the Murfreesboro Police Department.
The collision occurred at approximately 6:41 p.m. near the intersection of South Church Street and South Rutherford Boulevard. Authorities said a sedan struck Van Ekelenburg, who sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
The driver of the sedan was unharmed. Following the crash, the vehicle caught fire, prompting police to close South Church Street and reroute traffic while emergency crews managed the scene.
The Murfreesboro Police’s Fatal Accident Crash Team is investigating the accident; no charges have been filed at this time.
