HOUGHTON COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) – Two South Carolina residents died following a crash involving an SUV and two motorcycles on US-41 near Golf Course Road on Tuesday.
Authorities identified the deceased as Raymond Miller, 65, and Kimberley Wooldridge, 36, both from Rock Hill, South Carolina. The crash involved an SUV driven by Sze Tiang, 45, of Houghton.
According to the Michigan State Police, the SUV was traveling south on US-41 and failed to notice a pickup truck stopped to turn. Tiang reportedly avoided the initial collision but entered the northbound lane, striking the two motorcycles.
Following the investigation, charges were filed against Tiang. She was arraigned in the 97th District Court on three counts:
- Moving violation causing death; 1-year misdemeanor
- Moving violation causing death; 1-year misdemeanor
- Operating with no license/expired license; 90-day misdemeanor
The charges result from the MSP investigation and consultations with the victims’ families. Tiang is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
