New Jersey Attorney General’s Office Launches Investigation into Fatal Crash in West Deptford.

One person died, and another was injured during a crash involving a police pursuit in West Deptford.

Authorities said the incident started at P & S Gas and Food Mart on Hessian Ave around 5:30 p.m. when police responded to a report of two intoxicated men. Upon arrival, officers noted the men entering a vehicle, which prompted a marked police car to follow.

Witnesses reported seeing the speeding vehicle head towards Red Bank Avenue, where it crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with another car. The driver of the struck vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 24-year-old female passenger suffered a broken leg and was transported for surgery.

The driver of the fleeing vehicle was identified as George Linard, 24, from the United Kingdom. Authorities stated he appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office is investigating the crash, in collaboration with the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, given the police pursuit prior to the collision. No names have been released at this time, and Linard does not have an attorney listed.

Further details regarding road closures and tows have yet to be confirmed.
