New Orleans Woman Killed While Assisting Motorist on I-10.

NEW ORLEANS, La. – A woman was killed on I-10 after she was struck while helping a driver trapped in a flipped vehicle on October 2, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 2:41 p.m. on the westbound side of I-10 near Elysian Fields Avenue. According to the New Orleans Police Department, the initial crash involved a speeding vehicle that changed lanes and overturned, leaving the driver trapped.

Ka’Sheena Daniels, 31, of New Orleans, stopped to assist the driver, who she recognized as a neighbor. Witnesses reported that Daniels successfully helped pull the woman from the overturned vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, another vehicle collided with the stopped cars, pushing one of the vehicles into a group of bystanders, including Daniels. She suffered fatal injuries in the impact, while several others were injured but survived.

Daniels’ family struggled to locate her after the crash, but her mother, O’Sheenana Daniels, later found her at the scene. The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing, according to authorities.

Daniels was described by her family as selfless and always willing to help others. She had recently celebrated her birthday and was raising her adopted son.

The family has launched a GoFundMe to assist with funeral costs.
