New York State Police Probe Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Ohio Town.

FATAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH IN OHIO TOWN CLAIMS LIFE OF YOUNG RIDER

Ohio, NY — A fatal motorcycle accident occurred on State Route 8 on August 18, 2026, at approximately 9:30 a.m., resulting in the death of a 21-year-old male.

Authorities reported that the rider, from Wolcott, NY, was heading northbound when he failed to navigate a right-hand curve, crossing into the southbound lane. The motorcycle collided with a 2019 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by 47-year-old James E. Day from Ontario, Canada.

Following the impact, the motorcycle veered off the roadway and struck a tree. Emergency responders pronounced the motorcyclist deceased at the scene.

A Drug Recognition Expert evaluated the tractor-trailer operator and determined he was not impaired, according to the New York State Police.

The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is assisting with the investigation, which remains ongoing. Further details will be released as they become available.
