Motorcycle Crash Claims Life in Virginia City
VIRGINIA CITY, NV – A fatal motorcycle accident occurred on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at approximately 8:50 p.m. on SR341, just north of D Street.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound when it left the roadway while navigating a left curve. The motorcycle struck a guardrail, ejecting the driver, Stephen Klein, a 34-year-old male from Reno. Klein was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities suspect that excessive speed and driver impairment may have contributed to the accident. The Nevada Highway Patrol Major Incident Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the incident.
As of now, no additional injuries have been reported, and there are lane closures in the area as investigators work at the scene. A towing service is en route to remove the motorcycle.
This accident marks the 26th fatal crash investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command this year, resulting in a total of 30 fatalities.
