Northbound I-5 in North Portland reopens following fatal motorcycle crash.

A motorcycle crash in North Portland on Thursday afternoon resulted in one fatality and closed all northbound Interstate 5 lanes for several hours.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. just north of N. Lombard Street, near the 206A exit and N. Columbia Boulevard. Northbound lanes remained closed until approximately 10:30 p.m.

According to Portland Police, the collision involved a motorcyclist and a passenger vehicle. Despite bystanders providing first aid, the motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

Northbound I-5 was closed between North Lombard Street and Columbia Boulevard, leading authorities to reroute traffic off the freeway at the Lombard exit.

The driver of the vehicle remained on-site and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, authorities said.
