THOMAS COUNTY—A man died in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, October 1, around noon on Kansas 25, north of Interstate 70.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Duane D. Kriegshauser, 62, of Colby, was southbound when his 1991 Kawasaki collided with a 2006 Toyota Prius driven by Laura D. Kern, 32, also from Colby. Kern was attempting a turn into a private drive after slowing down.
Kriegshauser was pronounced dead at Citizens Medical Center shortly before 1 p.m. Our reports indicate that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Kern was properly restrained and sustained no injuries.
The Kansas Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the collision. No additional lane closures have been reported.
