OKLAHOMA CITY — A motorcycle crash on I-40 left one person dead Monday afternoon due to a tire malfunction. The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. in the westbound lanes near Interstate 235.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the motorcycle experienced a mechanical failure that caused it to lay down, resulting in the driver being thrown from the bike. The deceased has been identified as 53-year-old Jerry Martin of McLoud.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident, and Martin was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. Troopers indicated that tire issues may have contributed to the incident.
