Bob Barry Jr. Killed in Motorcycle Accident in Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City, OK – Bob Barry Jr., a prominent sports director for NewsChannel 4, died in a motorcycle accident on Saturday afternoon, June 20, 2015, at age 58.
The accident occurred on a city roadway; however, specific details about the crash site have not yet been released. Authorities reported that the driver involved has been arrested for manslaughter and driving without a valid license. The incident is under investigation.
Barry was known for his work as a weeknight sports anchor at KFOR and as a host of a morning sports talk show on WWLS-AM/FM “The Sports Animal.” He had a successful broadcasting career spanning over 30 years and was a proud graduate of the University of Oklahoma.
University officials expressed their condolences. Oklahoma President David Boren stated, “The entire OU family was deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of Bob Barry Jr.”
Barry, a graduate of Norman High School, founded “The Foul Shots,” a charity basketball team that raised over $1 million for various causes in Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife, Gina, and four children.
