FLORENCE, Ky. (WKRC) – A two-vehicle crash on Industrial Road left one woman dead and three others injured on Monday at approximately 4:15 p.m.
According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the collision in front of 7405 Industrial Road, involving a Honda and a Hyundai.
The Honda, driven by 75-year-old Shirley Hadden of Cincinnati, was exiting a parking lot with two passengers, a 70-year-old and a 12-year-old. The Hyundai, driven by a 52-year-old, was traveling eastbound in the left lane at the same time.
Witnesses reported that Hadden made a left turn from the parking lot, crossing both eastbound lanes into the path of the Hyundai, resulting in the crash.
Hadden was transported by Florence EMS to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The 70-year-old passenger sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to UC Medical Center by Independence EMS. The 12-year-old was also transported by Florence EMS to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Hyundai was hospitalized at UC Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation. Authorities stated that while speed and impairment are not believed to be factors, they will review all aspects of the incident. All occupants were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
No charges have been filed, and all individuals involved are cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
