A three-vehicle crash on Highway 63 in Osage County resulted in one fatality and two injuries on Saturday afternoon.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the incident occurred at 1:54 p.m. on August 8 at the intersection of Highway 63 and County Road 512. A northbound 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 54-year-old Boonville man, crossed the center line and struck a southbound 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle head-on.
The collision caused the motorcycle to overturn, ejecting its 61-year-old male driver and a 50-year-old female passenger from Hartsburg. Debris from the crash also struck a second southbound motorcycle, a 2002 Harley-Davidson ridden by a 64-year-old Jefferson City man, causing it to overturn.
The Osage County Coroner pronounced the 61-year-old motorcyclist dead at the scene at 3 p.m. The female passenger suffered serious injuries and was transported by ARCH Air to University Hospital. The 64-year-old motorcycle driver sustained moderate injuries and was taken to the same hospital by Osage Ambulance.
Authorities said the 61-year-old driver was not wearing a safety device, while both passengers on the motorcycles and the Chevrolet driver were wearing safety devices; no injuries were reported for the Chevrolet driver.
The Chevrolet Silverado was towed by 4J’s Towing, sustaining extensive damage, while the 2017 Harley-Davidson was totaled; the 2002 Harley-Davidson incurred minor damage and was removed by Osage County Towing.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating the accident. This incident marks Troop F’s fourth traffic fatality in August and the 40th for 2026.
