CICERO, N.Y. — An Oswego man is hospitalized following a motorcycle crash on I-481 in Cicero on Wednesday.
The New York State Police reported the incident occurred at approximately 9:07 a.m. on southbound Interstate 481 in Onondaga County.
Authorities said that Zachary H. Mills, 29, was riding a 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he collided with a 2025 Mazda CX-50 driven by a 37-year-old man from Pennellville.
As traffic decelerated, the Mazda driver signaled and merged into an adjacent lane. Mills failed to notice the slowing traffic and struck the left rear of the Mazda.
The impact ejected Mills from his motorcycle, causing him to hit the guide rail.
Mills sustained severe injuries and was transported to Upstate University Hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.
I-481 southbound was closed for several hours as the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit processed the scene. The roadway has since reopened.
The investigation is ongoing, according to authorities.
