ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A motorcycle crash in Anchorage on April 18 left one man paralyzed below the waist, seriously injuring him.
Mingo Graham, 35, was riding at high speed when he collided with a pole, resulting in a broken C6 vertebra. He was in a coma for several months before waking up at Stanford University. The incident has significantly impacted his mobility and quality of life.
Rehabilitation Journey
After several months of rehabilitation in Anchorage, Graham spent the initial eight months confined to his room. It was during this time that he began his passion for building Lego sets.
Graham has since created an extensive collection of models, utilizing his thumb, finger, and mouth. His first construction was a Lego replica of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, the same model involved in his crash.
Finding Purpose
Graham stated that his Lego projects provide motivation and direction. “They give me motivation when I’m unmotivated,” he said, noting that his positivity surprises those around him.
