Pend Oreille County Responds to Plane Crash and Motorcycle Wreck Keeping Crews Occupied.

METALINE FALLS, Wash. — Two emergencies were reported in Pend Oreille County on Monday, including a plane crash at Sullivan Lake Airport and a motorcycle accident on Highway 20.

Authorities said the plane crash occurred when the pilot attempted a fast landing, which led to a bounce and a failed takeoff due to adverse conditions. Fire crews arrived promptly, secured the aircraft, and confirmed the pilot was not injured.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle crash took place at a sharp curve on Highway 20. The rider sustained critical injuries after colliding with a barbed wire fence. Witnesses reported the incident occurred in the late afternoon.

Emergency responders transported the injured rider via Life Flight from Ione Airport to a nearby hospital. Officials stated the rider is currently stable and receiving medical care.
