PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) – A fatal motorcycle crash claimed the life of Detective Angela Nieto on the night of October 14 on the bridge over Bayou Chico.
Authorities reported that Nieto, 48, was a passenger when the driver lost control in a curve, resulting in her being thrown from the motorcycle. She died at the scene.
The driver was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive. The incident remains under investigation by the Pensacola Police Department.
Detective Nieto joined the Pensacola Police Department in 2019 after serving in the U.S. Army, earning promotion to officer seven months later. She is survived by two children.
An honor guard procession was held on October 15, escorting Nieto from the District One Medical Examiner’s Office to Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
