18-Year-Old Driver Killed in Pursuit Crash in Toledo
TOLEDO, Ohio — An 18-year-old driver was killed early Tuesday morning after a stolen vehicle involved in a police pursuit crashed into multiple parked cars.
Emergency crews responded to the scene at Central and North Detroit avenues shortly after 3:30 a.m. Authorities said the driver, identified as Anthony Jeffries, was trapped inside the vehicle after the crash.
According to Toledo Police, officers attempted to stop the stolen vehicle at approximately 3:34 a.m. Jeffries fled from the police before crashing. Toledo Fire & Rescue extricated him from the wreckage and provided medical treatment, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four vehicles, including the one driven by Jeffries, were towed from the area. The intersection was cleared, and traffic resumed normal flow shortly after the incident.
The crash remains under investigation.
