A Portland man died following a motorcycle crash on Route 17 on Wednesday evening.
The collision occurred around 5:30 p.m. when a northbound motorcycle, operated by 36-year-old David Garneau, struck the side of an SUV turning left into Portland Golf West, according to police. Garneau was ejected from his motorcycle and subsequently struck by another vehicle traveling southbound.
Garneau was initially transported to Middlesex Hospital before being flown to Hartford Hospital via LifeStar with life-threatening injuries. Authorities later confirmed he succumbed to his injuries.
Additional minor injuries were reported at the scene. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and witnesses are encouraged to contact the Portland Police Department with any information.
