58-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in Gulfport Collision

GULFPORT, MS, (July 21, 2025) – A motorcycle accident on Cowan-Lorraine Road early Monday morning resulted in the death of 58-year-old Reese Shavers.

According to law enforcement officials, Shavers, a resident of Perkinston, was traveling south on Cowan-Lorraine Road at approximately 5:17 a.m. when a northbound vehicle collided with his motorcycle near Seaway Road.

Shavers was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is currently under investigation.

ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

This incident highlights the risks motorcyclists face daily. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported over 6,000 motorcyclist fatalities in 2022, constituting 15% of all fatal crashes.

Authorities have not released further details as to the cause of the collision.
