WATERLOO, Iowa — A motorcycle crash claimed the life of a 43-year-old Waterloo man Wednesday afternoon on Sergeant Road.
At approximately 3:47 p.m., Black Hawk County Consolidated Dispatch received a 911 call reporting the accident near Freedom Lane. Upon arrival, emergency responders found that the rider had been ejected from his motorcycle.
The victim, identified as Marcus Porter, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities reported Porter was riding a green 2001 Kawasaki ZX900 motorcycle northbound on Sergeant Road when he veered off the roadway, entered the shoulder, and struck the median.
No additional vehicles were involved in the crash. The roadway was closed in both directions for about an hour as crews worked to clear the scene.
An investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet determined the cause of the accident.
