Roy Hans, a beloved resident of Scottsbluff, NE, has passed away.

Roy Hans, 90, Passes Away in Scottsbluff, Nebraska

SCOTTSBLUFF, NE – Roy Minnick Hans, 90, died peacefully at Regional West Medical Center on March 11, 2025. Hans, originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, was born on November 8, 1934, to Bernice Jo Hans.

After moving to Alliance, Nebraska, he graduated high school in 1954 and later enlisted in the United States Air Force. Hans served with the 1100th Flight Line Maintenance Squadron, stationed in Washington, D.C., and Japan, and was proud of his military service.

Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Western Nebraska and spent over 35 years as a heavy equipment operator in highway and interstate construction. In retirement, he became an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed travel with his girlfriend, Sharon Clinesmith, a relationship spanning 38 years.

Hans resided at Heritage Estates in Gering, Nebraska, for the past six years, where he maneuvered his motorized wheelchair around the facility and enjoyed the company of friends. He was known for his spirited participation in bingo games.

A devoted follower of Christ, Hans was a member of Cornerstone Church in Scottsbluff. He is preceded in death by his mother, grandparents, and several cousins. He is survived by cousins Patsy Miehi, Linda Ehrlich, Judy Landenberger, and his girlfriend, Sharon Clinesmith.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on April 7, 2025, at Heritage Estates Chapel, Gering, NE, with a reception to follow. Burial will take place at Alliance City Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on April 8, 2025. All are welcome to attend.
