Roy Selensky Charged Following Fatal Motorcycle Crash Near Silverton.

Harley-Davidson Collision on U.S. Route 550 Claims One Life

SILVERTON, CO, (July 31, 2026) — A motorcycle accident on U.S. Route 550 near Silverton resulted in one fatality Friday afternoon.

Authorities reported that Roy Selensky, 72, of Baytown, Texas, was charged with careless driving causing death after colliding with another motorcyclist. The accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. when Selensky, riding a red Harley Davidson, crossed into the northbound lane, striking a black Harley Davidson operated by a 53-year-old man from Farmington, New Mexico.

The impact sent the black motorcycle off the road, where it went airborne before striking a ridge. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene, while Selensky sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The identity of the deceased rider has not been released.

The Colorado State Patrol’s Vehicular Crimes Unit is conducting an investigation into the crash.
