An Oakland County attorney faces charges for a hit-and-run crash that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist in Fraser.
Authorities said 64-year-old Edward Michael Nahhat allegedly struck 48-year-old Julie Fathbruckner while driving a pickup truck on Sunday, Aug. 23, then fled the scene. Fathbruckner was taken to the hospital, where she later died.
Nahhat was arraigned on Aug. 26, facing charges of:
- Failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in serious impairment or death, a five-year felony
- Lying to a police officer, a two-year felony
Fathbruckner was an account manager and volunteer equestrian, contributing to Camp Casey, a nonprofit for children with life-threatening illnesses.
With over 30 years of legal experience, Nahhat specializes in various law fields and founded Shakespeare Royal Oak, a prominent outdoor theater festival in Michigan.
Judge Joseph Boedeker set Nahhat’s bond at $100,000 cash with a 10% surety option. If he posts bond, he must wear a GPS tether and surrender his driver’s license.
Nahhat’s attorney has not yet commented on the case.
