Semi Driver Charged with Criminal Vehicular Homicide in Fatal Vadnais Heights Motorcycle Accident.

CASS COUNTY, Minn. (Local News Wire) – A Pennsylvania truck driver faces charges in a fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 371 that occurred August 20.

Timothy William Arthur Hall, 33, of Emlenton, Pennsylvania, was charged August 21 in Cass County District Court with two counts of criminal vehicular homicide. Each count carries a potential maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. Hall is currently in custody at the Cass County Jail.

Roy John Berger, 30, of Vadnais Heights, died when his motorcycle collided with a cable barrier along southbound Highway 371 near Highway 200 and was subsequently struck by Hall’s semi. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities reported that Berger was wearing a helmet and that alcohol was not suspected as a factor.

According to a criminal complaint, Minnesota State Patrol troopers located Hall’s semi, which had fled the scene. Witnesses indicated the truck appeared to intentionally maneuver to block the motorcycle before the collision. Investigators found damage consistent with the crash on the semi, along with possible human remains on the mud flap.

Witnesses reported the semi swerved onto the shoulder, preventing the motorcycle from passing, and then made a quick maneuver that forced the motorcycle into the barrier. The truck fled after running over Berger.

Dash camera footage from the semi, provided by the trucking company, corroborates the witnesses’ accounts, showing the truck’s maneuvers that led to the crash. The roadway was clear, indicating no other hazards present at the time.

The investigation is ongoing.
