At least seven people died on Connecticut roads over the weekend, with multiple serious injuries reported from a series of crashes, according to authorities.
The incidents occurred between Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon, affecting various locations across the state. Among the fatalities were a motorcyclist, a motorized scooter operator, and a pedestrian struck on a highway on-ramp.
Friday Incidents:
- 1:40 p.m.: Carolyn T. Mattson, 90, of Winsted, died in a crash on Route 44 in New Hartford when her Toyota Corolla was struck by a tractor-trailer. She was pronounced dead at the scene, State Police said.
- 5:53 p.m.: Devan Michel Nolet, 30, of Mansfield, was killed in a motorcycle crash on Route 32 in Windham after colliding with a Ford Explorer. He was ejected from his bike and later pronounced dead at Windham Hospital.
- 10 p.m.: Kevin Zalaski was arrested after allegedly tailgating and speeding over 100 mph before crashing on Route 3 in Glastonbury. Injuries were reported for the other driver involved.
Saturday Incidents:
- 2:30 a.m.: One person was hospitalized with serious injuries in a crash on I-91 south near Exit 22 in Cromwell.
- 3:45 a.m.: James Hannan, 22, of Farmington, died after rear-ending a tractor-trailer on I-84 in Middlebury.
- 2 p.m.: Jocelyn Hernandez, 23, of West Haven, was killed in New Haven when her vehicle struck a tree; two others were critically injured.
- 8:45 p.m.: A 61-year-old motorized scooter operator died in Bridgeport after a collision, with two others hospitalized for injuries.
Sunday Incidents:
- 12:50 a.m.: Luis Cisneros Fletes, 18, died in a two-car crash on Chase Avenue in Waterbury, where five others were injured.
- 2:46 a.m.: Dylan Stamour, 22, was killed in Norwich after being struck by a car on the I-395 north on-ramp.
State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding these incidents.
