Motorcycle Accident Injures Co-Founder of Spencer Foundation

Spencer, IA — Jerry Faulkner, 65, co-founder of the Shayla Bee Foundation, was injured in a multi-vehicle accident at noon Thursday on Highway 71, near the North Y of Spencer.

Authorities said Faulkner was traveling northbound on his Harley Davidson when a semi, driven by 52-year-old Kenneth Goerg of Cedar Rapids, attempted to cross the intersection onto 320th Street. Faulkner struck the semi and was dragged until the driver could stop.

Emergency responders transported Faulkner to Spencer Hospital before airlifting him to Avera in Sioux Falls, where he is currently in the ICU. According to a post by his daughter, Faulkner’s recovery is expected to be long and extensive.

The Iowa State Patrol is conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident. Spencer Police and the Clay County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the scene.
