Walhalla High School Student Dies in Motorcycle Crash
OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. — A 16-year-old Walhalla High School student, Tanner Hopkins, died in a motorcycle crash Friday afternoon.
According to the Oconee County Coroner’s Office, the incident occurred around 3 p.m. near Stumphouse Tunnel Road on SC Highway 28. Authorities reported that Hopkins was traveling east on a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle when he lost control and struck a guardrail.
Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. Further details regarding lane closures or additional injuries were not immediately available.
