Date Posted: Wednesday, February 4th, 2026

WILMINGTON—A three-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on South Maryland Avenue resulted in one fatality Tuesday evening, according to the Delaware State Police.

The incident occurred on February 3, 2026, at approximately 8:20 p.m. Preliminary findings indicate a Toyota Tacoma was stopped in the left lane of eastbound South Maryland Avenue, waiting to turn onto Reamer Avenue. A Dodge Ram was also halted at a stop sign on southbound Reamer Avenue. A Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling west on South Maryland Avenue at a high rate of speed collided with the passenger side of the Toyota after it turned left. The impact caused the Toyota to spin and hit the Dodge Ram.

The 29-year-old motorcycle operator from Wilmington was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. His identity will be withheld pending family notification. Both drivers of the Toyota and Dodge, aged 32 and 66, reported no injuries.

Authorities closed the roadway for approximately 1.5 hours for investigation and cleanup. The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit is currently looking into the crash. They encourage anyone with information to contact Master Corporal R. Kunicki at (302) 365-8417 or to send a message via Facebook to the Delaware State Police.
