ASHFORD, CT — Two individuals sustained serious injuries in a motorcycle and scooter collision on 163 Turnpike Road just after 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
According to the Connecticut State Police, the accident involved a 14-year-old boy on a ZNEN Tank II scooter and a 34-year-old man from Danielson on a 2024 Moto Guzzi V7 Stone motorcycle. The teenager was airlifted to UMass Memorial Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, while the Danielson man was transported by ambulance to Hartford Hospital for serious injuries.
Authorities stated that preliminary investigations indicate the Danielson man was traveling northbound on Turnpike Road when the teen turned in front of him, causing the crash. Following the impact, the motorcycle veered off the shoulder and into an embankment.
The incident is currently under investigation. Police urge any witnesses or drivers with dashboard camera footage to contact the Troop C barracks in Tolland at 860-896-3200.
