Teen motorcyclist killed on State Road 776 after colliding with an SUV in Charlotte County on Sunday afternoon.
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. —
The fatal crash occurred around 1 p.m. near Jacobs Street, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported that a 19-year-old motorcyclist from Englewood was traveling south in the outside lane at a high speed when an SUV turned left in front of him.
The motorcycle struck the right side of the SUV, ejecting the rider, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials confirmed he was wearing a helmet.
The SUV’s driver, a 39-year-old woman from North Port, and her 9-year-old passenger were not injured in the incident.
Emergency response units arrived promptly, but the incident remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. Lane closures were reported in the area following the crash.
