Three Injured in Motorcycle Benefit Ride in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Miss. (WDAM) – Three individuals sustained serious injuries during a motorcycle benefit ride in Columbia on Saturday around noon.

According to Columbia Police Chief Adrian Fortenberry, the incident occurred at the intersection of Highway 13 and Highway 35 when two motorcycles collided, just as the ride neared completion.

One motorcycle carried two people; one was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, while the other was transported by ambulance to Forrest General Hospital. The second motorcycle, operated by a Richland police officer, was also involved and resulted in that officer being airlifted to Forrest General Hospital.

Authorities confirmed that all three victims suffered serious injuries. The scene was cleared at 1:30 p.m. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the accident.
